BrandExtract Appoints Cynthia Shanley Director of Communications, PR

(HOUSTON) - BrandExtract LLC today announced the appointment of Cynthia J. Shanley as director of communications and public relations. Shanley brings more than 20 years of communications and public relations experience that includes a variety of industries, including financial services, health care, maritime and energy.

Prior to joining BrandExtract, Shanley was a communications specialist at Texas Children's Hospital, where she served as lead writer and project manager for numerous internal and marketing communications projects over a three-year period.

"Cindy's broad expertise in developing and executing communications programs and her writing talent will be an asset for BrandExtract and our clients who look to us for their branding, communications, marketing and public relations needs," said Jonathan Fisher, president of BrandExtract.

Shanley is a former business reporter with more than 8 years of journalism experience that included work for The Houston Post, Houston Business Journal, San Antonio Business Journal and San Diego Business Journal. She was director of public relations for Western National Corp., followed by an account executive position at American General Corp.

Shanley also served as a senior account supervisor at Sommers & Associates Public Relations where she led accounts for the Port of Houston, Cambridge Energy Research Associates and other agency clients.

Shanley received her bachelor's degree in English/Journalism from Ohio Northern University. She has won numerous awards for her work, including most recently a 2007 Crystal Award from the American Marketing Association (AMA) - Houston and a 2007 Excalibur Gold Award from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) - Houston. She's a member of the board of directors for the non-profit Texas Foundation for the Arts and is a volunteer judge for International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) award competitions.
