BrandExtract Sets Houston Precedent at International WebAwards Competition
September 13, 2012
HOUSTON, September 13, 2012 — Houston-based brand experience firm, BrandExtract, LLC., was honored with three prestigious Outstanding Website awards at the 16th Annual Web Marketing Association WebAwards — an international competition celebrating excellence in Internet marketing and website development.
"It's great to be recognized by the Web Marketing Association for this body of work," said BrandExtract Vice President of Interactive Malcolm Wolter. “We've entered the show every year since 2008, but achieving such a high level three times in one year is a milestone for us."
This year’s ceremony places BrandExtract in rarified air for Houston branding and interactive firms — being first to ever receive three Outstanding Website awards in one year. Awards were granted for sites developed for Marathon Oil Corporation, a worldwide leader in energy exploration and production; ION Geophysical, an innovative technology-focused seismic solutions company; and GSE Environmental, a leading geosynthetic lining provider site for which the branding firm received national praise earlier this year.
"BrandExtract has done a remarkable job of helping transform our brand and this award for Outstanding Website reaffirms what we've already come to know in one short year," said GSE Environmental Global Director of Marketing Steve Eckhart. “The entire team there, from top to bottom, has a passion for excellence and really pour it into everything we've partnered with them on.”
Awards were determined by a panel of online marketing and design professionals who evaluated more than 2,000 websites based on seven judging criteria.
"We're thrilled with the award," said ION Geophysical Director of Digital Communications Christine Feimer-Whatley. "BrandExtract has been instrumental in the last three generations of our site and we chose them for the redesign because we trust them to always do the right thing by us. They are able to find the right balance between creativity and usability, which really works for us and our global audience."
Key to BrandExtract’s continued success in this arena is strategic planning paired with strong creative executions and innovative implementations of existing and developing technologies as evidenced by the firm’s proprietary Site Authoring and Maintenance (SAM) platform.
"All of the sites were built using our SAM web management system," said BrandExtract Senior Manager of Software Development Donovan Buck. "SAM offers a unique combination of design and technology flexibility with a great user experience for site authors and end-users alike."
Since 2008, BrandExtract has won 20 WebAwards. In addition to the three Outstanding Website awards, they were also honored this year with the Science Standard of Excellence award for work with EFI Global and the Education Standard of Excellence award for development of the new Marine Military Academy site.
"Awards are not an end in themselves at BrandExtract,” explained Wolter. “Everything we do is built with strategic purposes. Our real satisfaction comes from designing websites and other marketing platforms that help transform companies. Being recognized is just icing on the cake."
