HOUSTON, Aug. 8, 2011 - The Houston Food Bank opened its doors to Houston branding firm, BrandExtract, employees early Friday morning. However, the ensemble of employees wasn't there to eat, but to volunteer their time.
More than 30 BrandExtract employees adorned in aprons and hairnets went to work in the Houston Food Bank kitchen, chopping vegetables and assembling lunch boxes. In total, the BrandExtract team assembled more than 9,425 lbs. of food, which could feed approximately 7,050 people, setting a Houston Food Bank record.
"Serving our community is important to us," said Jonathan Fisher, Chairman and COO, BrandExtract. "Helping people grow is one BrandExtract's core values, so what better way to help them grow than providing nutritious meals?"
BrandExtract shuts its office for an entire day to commit to a quarterly community volunteer project. Past community projects have included building houses for Habitat for Humanity and assembling lunches for Kids Meals Houston. The company donates more than 750 hours per year to community projects.
