HOUSTON, September 21, 2011 - The Houston chapter of the American Advertising Federation tapped native brand experience firm BrandExtract to provide ideas and design for marketing materials to support the 2011 Student Advertising Competition and Conference. The package of materials created by BrandExtract includes a recruiting poster, microsite, and graphics for email, the AAF-Houston website and Facebook page.
"We wanted to capture the intensity of the competition, the importance of the weekend ... and of course we wanted to use a shrunken head," said Guy Parker, Chief Creative Officer, BrandExtract. "But even more importantly, the creative communicates how fierce - and fun - this competition really is-it's like a battle that offers them real-world experience and the opportunity to network with local and regional professionals."
The conference is a three-day event on November 4-6th that includes an all-day competition among teams of students from different universities from Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma. The students are randomly divided into "tribes" and tasked with creating an integrated marketing campaign for a mystery client sponsor - all within 8 hours. Winners are determined by a panel of judges and announced the following day.
The weekend conference also includes student breakout sessions with industry speakers, portfolio and resume reviews and a session on competing in the AAF National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC).
