BrandExtract was recently honored to be part of the 20th anniversary celebration of the Houston Affiliate of Susan G. Komen®. The organization's Pink Tie Gala, held March 6, commemorated 20 years of leading the fight against breast cancer in Houston, and raised $390,000 for the cause.
We teamed up with Susan G. Komen to develop a concept and collateral for the event that would encompass the celebratory theme of the evening. After talking with the affiliate's committee and learning that the committee's chairs were from New Orleans, we decided on a Mardi Gras concept with the theme "Paint the Town Pink...20 Years in Houston, 20 Shades of Pink."
To make the concept come to life in print, our designer Kathy Prince collaborated with Mike Dean, a diversely talented illustrator we work with regularly, who donated his time to create an illustration that would become the face of the gala invitation, program and auction book. We then worked with the printer to determine the most time- and cost-efficient way to stay within budget, while still producing vibrant, quality materials. Paper choices, inks and even bright pink colored envelopes all contributed to setting the tone for what would be a momentous event with over 640 people in attendance.
