BrandExtract Helps Special CHEERS Recover from Severe Flooding

October 20, 2016

On Friday, October 14, the Houston-based BrandExtract team rolled up their sleeves and got down and dirty to help clean the grounds at Special CHEERS, a local nonprofit that provides therapeutic services to children and young adults with physical, emotional and developmental challenges. They offer a variety of occupational and manual therapy services to improve the quality of life for their clients.

Earlier this year, Special CHEERS was flooded with five feet of standing water. They were forced to evacuate all their animals and staff for their safety, and after 14 years of operations, Special CHEERS didn’t know if they would survive. The BrandExtract team spent the day transforming the grounds by clearing brush, mending fences and building a water trough for the horses. The improvements made by BrandExtract will impact the daily operations for Special CHEERS and allows them to continue to make a difference in the community.

After working up an appetite, the BE team returned to the office for the fifth annual Chili Cook-Off. Numerous chili recipes entered the competition this year, each of them contending for the coveted “Best Overall” award. It was a close battle, but Jason Wolter took home “Best Overall” and “Most Creative” recipes, while David Harvey claimed the spiciest batch of the year.

Our quarterly service day is also an occasion to celebrate an outstanding employee, nominated by their fellow team members, with the Big Head Award. This award recognizes going the extra mile with consistent superior results, excellent client service, outstanding teamwork, and showing initiative. This quarter, BrandExtract is proud to congratulate two Big Head winners, Leslie Rainwater and Jeff Lane.
