BrandExtract Sponsors Rice Alliance Award Winners

HOUSTON, April 26, 2007 — BrandExtract LLC sponsored 2007 winners of the Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship's annual business plan competition by underwriting the branding and communications prize and as a gold and silver event sponsor.
This three-day event, held from March 22-24, is intended to simulate the real-world process of entrepreneurs soliciting start-up funds from early-stage investors and venture capital firms. The competition is hosted by Rice University's Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship and Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Management.

Thirty-six teams from top MBA programs were selected to compete for over $285,000 in prizes. The Grand Prize was awarded to ResuRx Pharmaceuticals from Johns Hopkins University. ResuRx Pharmaceuticals reduces the cost and time for drug discovery by determining new uses for existing drugs and re-introducing them to the market. Among the prizes awarded the team from Johns Hopkins was marketing and design services provided by BrandExtract and The Padgett Group.
BrandExtract also serves as a marketing and branding consultant to the previous year's winner, Advanced Transit Dynamics Inc. To date, BrandExtract has assisted the company, led by CEO Andrew Smith, with positioning, naming and identity work. Advanced Transit Dynamics provides next generation fuel-saving technology demanded by competitive trucking fleets.
