Bo Bothe of BrandExtract judges 2009 Rice Business Plan Competition

Bo Bothe, president of BrandExtract, LLC, an integrated branding and communications firm, was a return judge at this year's Rice Business Plan Competition hosted by the Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship and the Jones Graduate School of Management at Rice University.
This year's competition marked Bothe's second year as a judge. For the third year, BrandExtract and The Padgett Group co-sponsored a $25,000 award to the winning startup with its identity and brand position. BrandExtract has supported this prestigious event for the past five years by developing all event communications materials.
"This is the world's largest business plan competition and it's rewarding to be part of the new ideas, technologies and concepts as they are being developed," Bothe said. "Many of the ideas are true commercial ventures and look to be viable businesses."
The Rice Business Plan Competition showcases Houston's entrepreneurial spirit and brings in students from all over the world. Bothe judged the new Social Venture track, examining presenters' business strategy, objective and tactics, among other criteria.
Thirty-six teams from top MBA programs around the country were selected to compete for more than $800,000 in prizes and the opportunity to advance to the international finals of the MOOT CORP® competition. Teams met and networked with more than 150 experienced venture capitalists, early stage investors, successful entrepreneurs and senior business leaders like Bothe who served as judges.
Judges participated by invitation and were selected based on their expertise in investing and entrepreneurship and their interest in supporting early stage entrepreneurs.
